Join me as I explore what makes Wright’s Tavern a must-visit spot in St. Louis and why it deserves a spot on your culinary bucket list.

Wright’s Tavern is highly relevant to the Maryville University community for several reasons. First, it introduces students, faculty, and staff to unique dining options in St. Louis, enhancing their local culinary experiences. Wright’s Tavern, nestled in the charming Clayton area of St. Louis, truly shines as a culinary gem, captivating the hearts and taste buds of both locals and visitors. The restaurant offers a unique blend of a New York shotgun-style vibe—a long, narrow layout that adds an air of intimacy—combined with the welcoming warmth and timeless charm of St. Louis. From the moment you step through the door, you’re greeted by rustic yet modern decor featuring exposed brick walls, soft lighting, and cozy seating arrangements that invite relaxed dining and conversation. During my visit, I was immediately struck by the soothing atmosphere. The moody music, the clinking of glasses, and the tantalizing aromas wafting from the kitchen set the stage for an unforgettable culinary experience. The server brought their expertise and a genuine passion for the food they served, ready to share stories behind each dish. This personal touch elevated the entire dining experience. Our server, Jessica, even mentioned how “the owner was so excited to open Wright’s Tavern to give St. Louisans a new taste of excellence.” She wasn’t lying!

The menu at Wright’s Tavern is a delightful testament to fresh, high-quality ingredients and innovative culinary techniques. I ordered just a few appetizers with my best friend, Ashley. Every bite was a burst of flavor, showcasing the chef’s commitment to iconic-ness. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, steak frites, and oysters. I also had their famous espresso martini. That’s when Ashley also tried it and said to me, “That is one of the yummiest drinks EVER.” Everything was so memorable.

Wright’s Tavern is a must-visit culinary destination that beautifully marries a vibrant New York vibe with the welcoming charm of St. Louis. Its thoughtfully crafted menu, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere make this spot perfect for any occasion. Whether you’re indulging in seasonal specialties or delighting in artisanal desserts, every visit celebrates flavor and community. If you’re looking to explore the heart of St. Louis’ dining scene, make Wright’s Tavern a priority on your culinary journey—it’s truly a spot that captivates both the palate and the spirit.
