You don’t have to go out of town over spring break to have a good time. Staying in St. Louis can be entertaining and exciting. There are many different things to do like tours, parks and classes that you may or may not have thought about doing before. If you’re trying to decide what to do over spring break, here is your calendar for a week in St. Louis.
Saturday, March 11- St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Run
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day early with a parade and run. This is a 5-mile race that goes through downtown and midtown. It is one of the largest parades in St. Louis with over 8,000 people participating.
Sunday, March 12 – Moonlight Hike
Have you ever wanted to hike on a moonlight trail? Now is your chance. Located in Godfrey IL (2213 S. Levis Lane Godfrey, IL 62035), just across the Mississippi River, the nature institution offers a moderate terrain that is sure to leave you with many memories to share to your friends and family. There is no cost and reservations are not required.
Monday, March 13 – Art Gallery
Visit Fontbonne University’s Fine Arts Gallery to see Maryville Professor, Metra Mitchell’s art gallery, Character Development. The show goes through March 18 and consists of 23 pieces and an altar piece.
Tuesday, March 14 – Pi Day
Celebrate Pi Day at Eckert’s Country Store in Belleville, IL. They are offering a free Dutch Apple pie with the purchase of a regular-price Dutch Apple pie. Eckert’s is located at: 951 S. Green Mount Road, Belleville, IL 62220.
Wednesday, March 15 – Busch Stadium Tour
See behind the scenes of Busch Stadium. Some of the highlights include the Cardinal’s dugout, the broadcast booth, the Cardinal’s Club and more. You can purchase tickets online or at the ticket window by gate three the day of the tour.
Thursday, March 16 – Hiking
If the weather is nice, there are many parks in St. Louis that are great for hiking such as Castlewood State Park, Queeny Park, Cliff Cave Park and the Katy Trail.
Friday, March 17 – Budweiser Brewery Tour
People of all ages can take the tour, but guests 21 and over will receive a complimentary beer sample during the tour. “Even if you aren’t 21, it is still fun to see the Clydesdales and the facility. I work in the restaurant, so I see how Anheuser-Busch has helped the reputation for St. Louis. It is a beautiful facility and the people are all so nice” Angie Isaacs, sophomore, said.
Saturday, March 18 – Painting With a Twist
Channel your inner artist. Painting with a Twist offers classes multiple times a week at six locations in the St. Louis area. Reservations are required.
Sunday, March 19 – Forest Park
Spend the last day of your break at Forest Park. You can visit the Boathouse, The Art Museum, The Zoo, The Planetarium/Science Center and many other attractions. Want to relax? On a sunny day, Art Hill is the perfect spot to have a picnic or just an afternoon outside. “Going to the art museum is always a good time. It’s free to get in, so it is good for college students on a budget. Forest Park is close to the loop so you can head to Fitz’s for lunch or dinner,” Evan Asher, senior, said.
