Every year in August Missouri offers a tax-free weekend and it takes place this weekend Aug. 3- 9, 2012. Shoppers can purchase clothing, school supplies, laptops and computer software without the added tax. It will only save you around an average of 7% of your total purchase. After all the lines and the waiting and dealing with crazy shoppers you must ask yourself is the hassle worth the 7% savings?
Being an avid shopper myself, my answer is ‘No’! Getting the instant savings may be nice, but in reality you will find a better deal a different day. The first thing to be aware of is that most companies are not going to have too big of price cuts on items; they know they will have customers regardless of how big of a deal it is, because to the customers the tax-free instant savings catches their attention anyways.
If you are planning on buying a laptop now is the time to do heavy research. Really shop around and see what they are going for as well as the customer reviews. Retailers will usually run great deals really close to back-to-school time. Around the end of August is a great time because most people have gone back to school, and you may score a deal on a last-minute item! The time to go back to school shopping is before tax-free weekend. You will have a not as picked over selection and you will get to shop without the craziness!
