Kansas City is a place like no other. The city has an influential art scene, vibrant night life, fascinating landmarks, shopping galore and much more. It’s perfect for a mini weekend vacation or a last minute road trip.
There are must-do activities and places to see when visiting Kansas City, Power and Light District, Country Club Plaza, Boulevard Brewing Company, and the National World War I Museum.
Power and Light District is over a half million square feet and is the center of Kansas City’s night life. There are more than 50 shops, bars and restaurants. Within Power and Light there is a bar for everyone which all feature a different theme such as Shark Bar, which plays 80’s and 90’s music, Angels Rock Bar that plays rock music, Tengo Sed Cantina which plays salsa music, and PBR Big Sky that plays country music.
Country Club Plaza features 15 blocks and over 150 shops and restaurants which makes it the city’s premier shopping and dining experience. There are shops such as Victoria’s Secret and Forever 21 as well as high end stores such as Armani Exchange and Burberry. You can walk around and shop all day or sit at one of the outside dining areas and people watch.
Boulevard Brewing Company is another fun place to visit. Much like the Anheuser-Busch Brewery tours here in St. Louis, it gives you an inside look on how the beer is made, a walkthrough of the brewery, the history of the company and, the best part, free beer!
The National World War I Museum, which is one of the newest attractions, may not sound like its very exciting but it may surprise you once you get there. This museum has one of the greatest and largest collections of World War I artifacts anywhere. The museum is known for ‘bringing history to life’. It also features Memorial Tower, which has some of the best views of Kansas City if you ride the elevator to the top.
Overall, a weekend trip to Kansas City is well worth it! There are lots of free things to do if you’re looking to spend very little money!
